The Dallas Entrepreneur Center at RedBird in partnership with Comerica Bank launch The Nest: Pitch Competition. “The Nest” is an interactive, incubation inspired pitch competition that celebrates the grit, innovation, and spirit of Southern Dallas entrepreneurs while providing those who may be new to the “pitch scene” with a bit of training, support and resources before, during and after to help their companies “take flight”. The DEC’s mission is to help entrepreneurs start, build and grow their business through mentorships, community, advocacy, and education. In alignment with that mission, we have crafted a pitch competition that embodies each of those tenants.
Winners of the The Nest will receive seed funding for their business (1st- $10,000, 2nd- $5,000, and an “audience choice” $1,000), a year of dedicated space at The Dallas Entrepreneur Center at RedBird, access to mentoring from strategy consultants, a financial literacy/advising session with Comerica Bank, on-going support from The DEC/Capital Factory networks, as well as a free membership from The Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce.
The showcase event will include an interactive presentation from 5 finalists and a lively engaging Q&A session from both the judges and the audience members. The final score will be a final tally, joining scores from both the judges and the audience with three winners.
Individual/Team MUST be present for the competition on 3/23
The pitch day deliverable is a three-minute pitch of a concept or idea. While the oral presentation may involve the use of props, slides, or other visual material, it must stand on its own without a written business plan
An individual or group of individuals may pitch. Each team will be limited to one entry in the competition. Individuals can only be members of one team.
Winners must agree to on-going business strategy support from DEC mentors, including a financial literacy session with Comerica Bank.
